SEOUL, Mar. 6 (Yonhap) -- KBS presents a period drama centered on the 1980s, a period of upheaval.

The press conference of KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Oasis" held online on Monday was attended by the main actors Jang Dong-yoon, Seorina, and Choo Young-woo, and producer Hwan-hee, who directed it.

They introduced the drama as "the story of young people who lived like fireworks," "time machine-like drama," and "drama that can be sympathized with men and women of all ages."

"Oasis" is a melodrama about three young people who fiercely threw themselves away to protect their dreams, friendship, and their first love in life from the 1980s to the 1990s. Jang Dong-yoon and Choo Young-woo fall into a love triangle over Seorina.

Seorina plays Oh Jung-shin, who is rushing toward her dream, Jang Dong-yoon plays Lee Doo-hak, who is poor but has a clear soul, and Choo Young-woo plays Choi Chul-woong, an elite who does not miss the top spot in the school.

Seorina said, "Jung Shin is a character full of passion for everything," adding, "She is a character who is cheerful and easy-going." "She does not just have an image of first love," she described.

Jang Dong-yoon and Choo Young-woo face off as rivals of fate. Lee Doo-hak and Choi Chul-woong, played by the two, are characters who live fiercely, although their environment is different.

"Lee Doo-hak is a pure-hearted boy born and raised in Yeosu," Jang Dong-yoon said. "The three (Lee Doo-hak, Oh Jung-shin, and Choo Young-woo) hang out together, make friendships, and fall into a difficult situation and overcome it."

Choo Young-woo said, "Choi Chul-woong grew up in a very rich family and hates losing," adding, “Rival Doo-hak is too nice and naive. I am more active and 'straight forward man,’” he introduced.

"Oasis" is also expected to melt the freshness and passion of young people into the atmosphere of the 1980s and 1990s.

Producer Hwan said, "I wanted to show what happens when the word youth is combined with the Korean era of the 1980s," adding, "I want to convey comfort and peace of mind to those who remember the 80s."
