12 national teams perform 'K-pop cover dance' at Blue House

SEOUL, October 14 (Yonhap) --Crowds of foreigners dressed in black appeared in front of the Blue House's Grand Garden on the morning of October 14 and began dancing to K-pop.

The groups danced to the Korean idol groups' internationally hit songs, such as BTS's "Butter" and Blackpink's "Pink Venom."

The groups are representatives of different countries who got to the finals of the "12th K-pop Cover Dance Festival" (KCDF), hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korean Cultural Center.

87 people selected from 12 different countries, including Poland, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Korea, will be competing in the final round.

These "national representatives" have been performing at the representative spots of Korea ahead of the final match, which will be held on Nodeul Island in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on October 15. On the previous day, the dance groups showed off their skills at Gwanghwamun and Banpo Han River Park.

Katie (32) from the United States said, "I am so honored to perform in front of the Blue House, which has a long history in Korea." Lee Young-joon (25) from Canada also said, "It's an honor to be in Seoul, the home of K-pop."

Tuan (26) from Vietnam said, "We just danced all together regardless of our nationality" and emphasized, "It is because we have common ground that we love K-pop."

The people took photos for memory and shouted out, "I love K-pop. I love Seoul. "

Citizens who came to visit the Blue House stood around the performance and cheered at the unexpected event. Also, the people sang along to the songs, clapped their hands together, and took pictures with their cell phones.
