SEOUL, May 16 (Yonhap) -- “The charming point of this album is the sense of relaxation that melts within the freshness. We wanted to show the mature side of us while expressing the bouncy charms of the summer season.” (Moonbin)

ASTRO opened an online press conference on Monday in time for its album release “Drive to the Starry Road.”

This is a full album that the group will release after a year since “All Yours,” which dropped in April last year.

Leader JinJin said, “We created a rich album that expresses each member’s color that was created for 7 years since debut. There has been some pressure, but we are satisfied since it came out great.”

The title song “Candy Sugar Pop” is a song that compares the nickname for a lover to Candy Sugar Pop, and shows the bright energy of the group.

JinJin, Moonbin, and Rocky participated in writing the lyrics and expressed their honest story through the words.

Sanha shared, “This title song is addictive like a dessert,” adding, “Just as we want to eat dessert again, I hope many people remember our song.”

The album also featured solo songs that highlighted each member's charm.

MJ calmly expressed the pain of a breakup through the pop ballad song “Story,” and Cha Eun-woo depicted the emotions of a one-sided love with producer Ryan Jhun through the track “First Love.”

Rocky, who composed and wrote the lyrics of the solo track “S#1” expressed the process, “I wanted to give the listeners a feeling of watching a movie by adding narrations or lyrics like movie lines to the song.”

When asked about the goal of this album, Jin Jin said, “I want to come in the first place. Wouldn’t it be nice if we ranked No. 1 (in music programs or charts) and held concerts? I’m also confident (laughs).”

The members expressed how they would do their best so the empty gap of member MJ, who is currently serving in the army, won’t be felt.

Moonbin emphasized, “To fill the empty seat of MJ, the team’s oldest member and ‘happy virus,’ we are all trying to cheer up and have fun.”

ASTRO plans to hold a concert at the end of this month and meet their fans after 3 years and 5 months.

Cha said, "I'm excited to hear that (the audience) can shout at the upcoming concert," expressing his expectation.
