SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Yonhap) -- Singer Hwang Young-woong, who has been singing at the stages of MBN’s music competition show “Glowing Trotmen,” has asked for forgiveness for the assault he was accused of having formerly conducted.

Hwang shared an apology on his social media on Saturday, saying, “I deeply apologize to those to whom I have caused inconvenience and trouble,” adding, “What I have done wrong in the past does weigh heavy on me, but I do have the will to live a new life.”

“I was in fear and pain at every moment while shooting the show,” the singer said. “I want to put everything down and disappear even at this moment.”

“However, I would like to publicly apologize for the sake of my mother who supported this foolish son all her life and my grandmother who took care of me on behalf of my mother,” he wrote. “I would like to ask for your gracious forgiveness for my past misconduct and give me one more chance to be a better person.”

Hwang, who has been mentioned as the potential finalist to win the music competition reality show by putting his name down in the Top 8, has been embroiled in a controversy when a post spread online addressing his past assault at a drinking party.

The production crew of “Glowing Trotmen” also made an official apology on his behalf to the viewers, saying, “There were prior confirmations and pledges that the casts made prior to broadcasting our show. However, we would like to apologize to the viewers and fans in that an unfortunate situation has occurred due to realistic limits.”
