SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- Japanese K-pop girl group NiziU has been selected as the winners for the Excellent Work Award at this year's Japan Record Awards, according to its management agency JYP Entertainment on Monday.

The Japan Record Awards, which began in 1959 and became an annual major music award ceremony, will mark its 63rd anniversary this year. The award show will be broadcast live on TBS Japan on Dec. 30.

NiziU received the Excellent Work Award for "Take a Picture," the title track of its second single "Take a Picture / Poppin' Shakin'," released in April.

This is the second award for the girl group to receive after winning the Special Award at last year's awards ceremony.

NiziU will also appear in Japan's representative year-end special program "Kohaku Uta Gassen," which is broadcast on Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

Last year, the nine-member group appeared on the program only 29 days after its official debut.

Meanwhile, NiziU will release its first full-length album "U," which delivers messages for its fans, on Nov. 24.
