SEOUL, Mar. 31 (Yonhap) -- Actor Woo Do-hwan, who left a strong impression with his unique sharp and sophisticated image, challenges his comic acting.

Woo Do-hwan, who returned to the small screen three years after being discharged from the military, said at a press conference for the drama "Joseon Attorney: A Morality" at MBC Golden Mouth Hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on Friday, "I don't know if I’m over 30 or after serving in the military, but I think I've changed a lot compared to before."

He said, "Before joining the army, I played characters who is always sharp, but this time I played the opposite character," adding, "I think my inner self has changed while acting." I hear a lot that my impression has improved these days," he said.

Woo Do-hwan, who starred in the dramas "Mad Dog" (2017), "Save Me" (2017), and "The King: Eternal Monarch" (2020), plays Kang Han-soo, lawyer of the Joseon Dynasty, who likes alcohol and women.

Justice is realized by law by standing on the side of the people who had to endure even if they were unjust because they had no power and no money.

Woo Do-hwan said, "I had a lot of difficulties with acting while filming the historical drama 'My Country: The New Age' in 2019," adding, "Even after receiving the script for 'Joseon Lawyer: A Morality', I felt afraid of 'Can I show better acting than then?'"

"I read the script with fear, and I thought Kang Han-soo is the opposite character of Nam Seon-ho in 'My Country,' and the capability of expressing the character as an actor has increased.”

"The atmosphere in the set was the best I've ever experienced," said Woo Do-hwan, who finished filming for about six months.

"We expressed what we could in the scene as an actor and did ad-lib lines without being tied to the script," he said. "The harmony between the actors with same age was really good."

Kim Ji-yeon, a member of the group WJSN who worked with Woo Do-hwan in romance, also said, "I had a really happy time while filming, and it will be nice if the energy is delivered well."

Regarding the reason why he decided to appear, she said, "The character was really attractive. I wonder if there was such a just and active female character in the historical drama."

In addition, actor Cha Hak-yeon will appear in the role of Yoo Ji-sun, the third-generation only son of Joseon's most prestigious family, and actor Lee Kyu-sun will appear in the role of Kang Han-soo's best friend and colleague Dong-chi.

The first episode will air at 9:50 p.m. on the 31st.
