SEOUL, August 16 (Yonhap) -- S.Korean singer Sean collected 1 billion won through the donation marathon for 77th anniversary of National Liberation Day, its agency YG Entertainment announced on Tuesday.
Former national soccer players Lee Young-pyo and Cho Won-hee, actors Park Bo-gum, Yoon Se-ah, Lee Si-young, Im Si-wan, Jin Seon-gyu, and Ko Han-min participated in the “2022 815 Run” marathon hosted by Sean and Habitat for Humanity Korea.
Former member of the national team for cycling Gong Hyo-seok, Yeon Je-seong, and track and field athlete Ho-jun Jang also ran and participated in the donation.
71 companies including clothing brand “North Face” and KaKao’s social contribution platform “Together kakao” also made donation. 3,500 individual participants donated 50,000 won each as an entry fee.
Sean donated a total of 16,300,000 won, 8,150,000 won from the profit of collaborative pop-up store of his own hip-hop brand “MF!” and clothing brand “MCM” and 8,150,000 won out of his own pocket.
The donation will be used for the Residential improvement project for descendants of independence patriots through Habitat for Humanity Korea.
Sean has donated a total of 2.13 billion won since 2020 “815 Run” marathon, building six homes for the descendants of independence patriots. He plans to build a house in Cheongsong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province and Gurye-gun, province of Jeollanam-do each until next month.
