SEOUL, Mar. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Yoo Yeon-seok has denied the allegation that he formerly humiliated the security guard of his apartment, calling it a “groundless” rumor.

Yoo’s agency, King Kong by Starship, issued a press release on Wednesday and said, “We will file a criminal complaint against the one who wrote the online post for defamation by publicizing erroneous statements and raising a false suspicion against the actor.”

On the previous day, there was an article, under the title “Actor Yoo Yeon-seok must not treat everyone the same,” posted on an online community. The post wrote that the actor gave the writer’s father, who worked as a security guard for the apartment where Yoo lived six to seven years ago, the cold shoulder by pointing fingers when he tried to talk to Yoo. The writer claimed that one’s father eventually quit his job after feeling severely humiliated.

Yoo, who made his screen debut in the film “Old Boy,” plucked to stardom by appearing in multiple hit television series including “Reply 1994,” “Hospital Playlist,” and “Narco-Saints.” He also took the lead role in the canine film “My Heart Puppy,” which hit the local theaters on Mar. 1.
