Special exhibition of relics from 1,800 yrs ago begins from the 21st

SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- 1,800 years ago from now, what would it have been like to live in Mahan?

You can find the answer to this, from a special exhibition at Mahan Museum (☎063-859-4627) in Iksan City, North Jeolla Province which will take place from the 21st to Dec. 12.

The special exhibition, themed “Houses of Mahan,” aims to understand the housing cultures at the time through the museum’s collection of relics excavated from Iksan.

Especially, it will be their first time to present Mahan’s earthen chimney discovered within the industrial complex of Iksan National Food Cluster.

The earthen chimney is an invaluable historical work as only 2 pieces have been discovered from Iksan yet including the one found in Sadeog historical site and there are hardly any cases excavated in complete form around the country.

The exhibition consists of four themes; (all translated) “Live, Houses of Mahan,” “Eat, Dietary of Mahan,” “Cook, Cooking Utensils of Mahan” and “Produce, Domestic Manufacturing of Mahan.”

Through the housings and various domestic activities, the exhibition will look back on the Mahan citizens’ lives.
