SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- “I was a fan of the webtoon. So, I thought that I must catch the opportunity and it was an honor to take the role of Bit-na.”

“I feel sad that the series is soon to be over, as I was enjoying it in the watcher’s point of view as well,” said actress Yang Hye-ji (25) on an online interview Friday. She took the role of Oh Bit-na, a college student who is true to her instincts, for JTBC series “Nevertheless”

The couple, Oh Bit-na and Nam Kyu-hyun (by Kim Min-gwi), was loved by the watchers as much as Park Jae-eon (Song Kang) and Yoo Na-bi (Han So-hee). It was quite thrilling to see Bit-na, who has been enjoying a life free of all constraints, starting to break her own ‘rules’ because of Kyu-hyun.

“I think the series depicted one’s growing into an adult after going through love and regret as naturally as possible. Also, I felt satisfaction playing Bit-na who, unlike me, asks her questions right away,” said Yang.

“In the webtoon, Bit-na is introduced in a rather impressive way. Her style and expressions are also quite noticeable. I wanted to bring those points to the series as well. In addition, from the start of the love-line, I gave a little change to not only show her confidence but also her cuteness.”

“She has engaged in light relationships. I thought that was because she has never been in true love. Bit-na started making challenges in her life through Kyu-hyun. Shouldn’t we call that growth?” added the actress.

She also praised the teamwork with the fellow actors.

“There were hardships in the filming scenes due to the COVID-19 infection, but the atmosphere was cheerful like when meeting friends. Of course, we did feel disappointment over the low viewing rate, but it was not serious. I really enjoyed taking part in the production. It reminded me of my college times, though unlike reality, the scripts did not make the students in the drama study for exams,” said Yang with a laugh.

“In particular I liked the comment that viewers didn’t realize that 빛나 was played by the same actress from ‘Live On,’ my previous work. I feel happy now that people may remember me as red-haired Bit-na.”

The actress, after debuting with “The Omniscient Point Of View Of An Unrequited Love,” has recently been actively participating in “I’ll Find You On a Beautiful Day,” “Live On,” and “Nevertheless” consecutively.

“I want to keep experiencing new characters like opening endless doors,” said Yang.

“It is a relaxing drama good to enjoy with some beer just before bed. It would be great if you could take the story in ease and comfortably,” said the actress to those who have yet watched the series.
