BUSAN, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) -- Uhm Jung-hwa and Cho Jin-woong have been appointed as juries for the "Actor & Actress of the Year" award at the 26th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which will be held from Oct. 6-15.
The "Actor & Actress of the Year" award is designed to discover newcomers with potential to lead the future of Korean films, and is given to male actors and female actresses who have performed the most impressive Korean feature-length independent films presented in the "New Currents" and "Korean Cinema Today_Vision" categories.
Actress Uhm Jung-hwa, who will serve as one of the judges, has starred in romance movies such as "Marriage Is a Crazy Thing" and "Singles" since her debut in 1993 with "On a Windy Day We Must Go to Apgujeong." Uhm also appeared in a variety of other genre films including her latest action comedy "Okay! Madam."
The actress is an all-round entertainer as she has dominated the music and entertainment industry as well.
Actor Cho Jin-woong made his debut with the movie "Once Upon a Time in High School" and also showed a wide acting spectrum in various famous works such as "Roaring Currents" and "Assassination."
The winner of this year's "Actor & Actress of the Year" award will receive awards from the two judges at the closing ceremony on Oct. 15, along with prize money of 5 million won.
