'1795 Nigh-time military training in Suwon Hwaseong' reproduced in AR

SEOUL, Sep. 6 (Yonhap) -- An AR(Augmented Reality) has been produced in which users can realistically experience night-time military training as it is happening in front of our eyes but actually taken place in Suwon Hwaseong Fortress from 4 p.m. of Feb. 12 to 4 a.m. the next day in 1795.

The contents was created based on a picture of military training scene 'Seojangdaeyajodo' from 'Hwaseong-wonhaengdobyeong,' a documentary folding screen of King Jeongjo's events taken place in 화성 in 1795, according to its producer, Korea National University of Cultural Heritage Monday.

There has been cases of creating videos of 'Seojangdaeyajodo' but the university explained that this the first visual production examining the clothing and objects of the soldiers being trained and considering the scale and location of the training session.

The research themed 163 cases, 14 kinds of clothing including armor helmet military uniforms daily clothes, 26 pieces of objects showing the king's dignity and 49 types of flags.

Also the contents reproduced the geography by analyzing the materials about the fortress's buildings and the structure of the picture and by using Geographic Information System (GIS).

The tangible contents will be unveiled on Heritage Korea to be held in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province between the 9th and 11th of September. Users can see a 3D video of the training scene participated by over a thousand people when they focus the camera on the fortress' model.
