SEJONG, June 26 (Yonhap) -- Jangdokdae is classified as a representative of Korea's traditional culture. In the past, each household owned a jangdokdae, which is an outdoor space--usually a terrace, where multiple jars that hold soy sauce or soy bean paste are gathered. Although many of these spaces disappeared due to rapid modernization of the Korean society, jangdokdae still remain at farmers or fishermens' houses. The photos above were taken at the Dweeungbark village, which is located at the foot of Unjusan Mountain in Sejong City. This privately run village also holds museums and restaurants, as well as possesses one of the biggest jangdokdae in order to make sauces. (Photos by Kim Tae-shik)
