SEOUL, June 13 (Yonhap) -- During the presidential dinner with leading figures of South Korean film industry held on 12th of June It was reported that president Yoon has made a promised stating “South Korean government will do their best to help the film industry to recover but also they are willing to work with the current funds.”
The head of the south Korean film council Park Ki-yong has stated that “president Yoon has received multiple requests to increase the amount of fund for the film industry from the Kim- Dong-ho who is head of Gangneung international film festival, film director Park Chan-wook, actor Jeong Woo-seong, Park Hae-il, Lee Yu-jin who is head of Zip cinema which produced the movie 'Broker,' and responded to them in a positive manner,” during his interview with Yonhap News on Monday.
Every time participants were given a chance to speak to the president, figures of film industry appealed to president Yoon how desperate they are due to the insufficient amount of funds.
To their appeals president Yoon responded with “ the absence of minister of finance at the presidential dinner is little bit disappointing.” Adding on to his statement president Yoon has asked to both Park Bo-gyoon and Yu Byung-chae Minister and secretary of Culture, Sports and Tourism to “actively review the current situation.”
Besides increasing the amount of funds related to the film industry, president Yoon has proposed a global financial system where people all over the world can fund the Korean film industry.
Member of the presidential office stated that president Yoon put an emphasis on how “the new system being planned will focus on bringing superfluous amount of funds and customers interest to the film industry” during his afternoon briefing.
Adding on, president Yoon has stated that “the responsibility to develop South Korean film industry and cultural content industry so that it can be a reliable basis for the economic growth of south Korean lies upon him.”
