SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- Seasoned actors Jang Hyuk and Yu Oh-seong, who are best known for their roles in action and noir genre works, will star together in the upcoming movie "Tomb of the River," which will be released on Nov. 17.
The noir film follows Min-seok (Jang Hyuk) and Gil-seok (Yu Oh-seong), who are standing at opposite ends over a construction of the largest resort in Gangneung.
During an online press conference on Friday, Jang said, "I have always wanted to play the role of a villain."
In the film, Jang plays a character who gets everything he wants by all means. A conflict between the two characters begin as Gil-seok, who is a member of a gangster group, tries to take away the resort business rights.
However, Jang explained that Min-seok is not a straightforward character like ordinary villains, saying, "While (Min-seok) is a villain, I tried to express him as someone who feels sympathy for others."
"I felt overwhelmed to act on screen with Yu Oh-seong," Jang said while expressing his feelings about reuniting with Yu after six years since the drama "The Merchant: Gaekju 2015."
"I was lucky to film 'Beat' and 'Friend'. I personally think 'Gangneung' is a work that completes the noir trilogy," Yu said. "The lines are romantic, so the overall movie genre came like a romantic noir."
Director Yoon Young-bin, who was in charge of directing the movie, stressed that the reason for choosing the two actors was for their incredible acting skills. "There are many factors in casting actors, and when the actors' put on great performances, their image as an incredible star naturally follow," director Yoon said. "Fortunately, all actors agreed to be cast for this film."

Oh Dae-hwan, who plays Gil-seok's right-hand man, Hyung-geun, said, "I was very nervous when I heard Yu Oh-seong was cast," adding, "(Yu) was good at looking out for others which allowed me to work comfortably on set."
Actress Lee Chae-young, who plays Eun-sun, one of the few female characters that appear in the movie, said, "I was able to complete my character because my co-stars created such great chemistry," adding, "I asked a lot of questions and received a lot of advice as well."
