Located in central Gyeongju city, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Daereungwon Tumuli Park is a cemetery for the royal family of Silla (57 BC~ 935 AD), a millennium kingdom. The kings who ruled Silla during the 4th and 5th century were buried here. Hwangnamdaechong is the largest ever twin-mounded tomb in Korean history among the other existing cemetery tombs. This royal tomb was built around the 5th century where the king and his wife were buried in a different mound one after another. A magnolia tree growing between the two mounds blossomed in full bloom on March 19th, 2021.
