SEOUL, June 4 (Yonhap) -- Singer BoA, who had been investigated by prosecutors for secretly bringing in psychotropic drugs such as Zolpidem from abroad, was not put on trial, her agency SM Entertainment said.

SM Entertainment said on the 4th that "At the end of May, the prosecution has decided not to put on trial the case involving our artist BoA."

Earlier, BoA was reportedly caught trying to bring psychotropic drugs, such as Zolpidem, prescribed overseas through an employee working for SM's Japanese branch in the name of a domestic employee.

When the case was reported in December last year, SM explained, "It was not an illegal attempt to bring it in, but a mistake caused by ignorance."

SM repeatedly said, "We did not know the relevant laws and regulations, so we failed to comply with the approval process for the drug."

"The prosecution has not indicted all of our employees in consideration of this," they said. "We apologize again for causing concern to many people."
