S. Korea begins cash handouts to all citizens
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok (L) talks with the owner of a restaurant in Seoul's Nowon Ward on July 21, 2025, as the country begins to receive applications for cash handouts, called "consumption coupons," from all citizens as part of a government initiative aimed at stimulating domestic consumption. Under the plan, all South Korean citizens residing in the country as of June 18 will receive a one-time payment of 150,000 won, with additional targeted assistance to be provided based on income levels.
