It seems Korea can hold the wave back no longer, as the Omicron variant is taking over as the dominant COVID-19 strain. Evidence of that comes from the trend we’re seeing in daily infection numbers. The latest figure announced this morning was 6,769, having climbed above 6,000 yesterday for the first time in 27 days. We’d been close to 8,000 daily infections in mid-December, but that figure then steadily fell to around 3,000. And this trend’s matched predictions by officials that cases would rise as Omicron becomes dominant. So, what next?
