Fireworks malfunction injures two at Seventeen's concert in Incheon
SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- A malfunction involving stage fireworks at a concert by K-pop group Seventeen has left two audience members injured.
The incident occurred Saturday during the first night of the group's two-day performance at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, about 30 kilometers west of Seoul, which marked the launch of its new world tour, "New_."
According to Pledis Entertainment, the group's agency, some of the fireworks used in the final segment unexpectedly fell into the audience section. The two injured individuals received immediate treatment at an on-site medical clinic and have since returned home.
Pledis issued an apology, attributing the accident to a "product defect" despite having a professional pyrotechnics company conduct repeated safety inspections.
The agency has pledged to cover the treatment costs for the injured and will conduct a further review of the incident to identify any other affected attendees.
