SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- Actress Kim Hee-sun has been selected as the lead role for a new drama titled "Tomorrow," which is based on a popular Naver webtoon. The drama is currently scheduled to be made in the first half of next year, according to MBC TV.
"Tomorrow" is a story about Choi Joon-woong, an unemployed character who is able to achieve anything except a job, who meets two Grim Reapers "Gu-ryun" and "Lim Leung-gu." Choi becomes a contract worker and helps the two Grim Reapers rescue people who are attempting suicide.
Although people usually associate Grim Reapers with death, "Tomorrow" provides an opposite setting where the Grim Reapers give consolation and help people continue living their lives. The differentiated storyline has helped the original webtoon to gain a strong fanbase and is also expected to draw attention for the drama as well.
Kim Hee-sun joins the film as one of the Grim Reapers, Gu-ryun.
The screenplay will be co-directed by writer Park Ran who has participated in various sitcoms and rookie writer Kim Yoo-jin. Film director Kim Tae-yoon, who created the film "New Trial" and director of the drama "Special Labor Inspector," Sung Chi-wook will be directing "Tomorrow." The production companies for the drama are Super Moon Pictures and Studio N.
An official from MBC drama said, "'Tomorrow' will be a drama that delivers warm sympathy and comfort, not discipline and advice, to people living in a difficult environment. We hope that many people will be able to start dreaming of a hopeful tomorrow through our drama, which will also show different charms in comparison to the original webtoon."
