SEOUL, July 6 (Yonhap) -- K-pop juggernauts BTS who are currently standing atop Billboard's main singles chart for five weeks with its upbeat summer song "Butter," has also topped the Oricon weekly music chart for three weeks with their latest Japanese album.

"BTS, The Best," which was released on June 16, sold 27,000 album copies in the week of June 28-July 4, adding up to a total of 885,000 units sold, according to the K-pop act's agency Big Hit Music on Tuesday.

The album went straight to the top of Oricon's weekly album chart in the first week of its release and remained at the top for three consecutive weeks.

The seven-piece band is the only artist who has topped the chart for three straight weeks this year.

Earlier, BTS' Japanese-language album sold 7822,000 copies in the first week of release, marking the highest first week of sales among albums released this year.

"BTS, The Best" is a 23-track album which includes BTS' Japanese songs such as "Film Out," "Your Eyes Tell" as well as the Japanese versions of the band's hit Korean songs, like "Idol" and "On."

BTS is scheduled to release a CD featuring pop star Ed Sheeran's newly penned single "Permission to Dance"
and "Butter" on July 9.
