Ahead of traditional holiday
Residents watch a "daljip," or a heap of straw or twigs, being set on fire along a stream in Seoul's Nowon Ward on Feb. 9, 2025, three days ahead of Jeongwol Daeboreum, a traditional Korean holiday that celebrates the first full moon of the year according to the lunar calendar. The burning of a daljip, meaning "moon house," is part of the holiday held to ward off misfortune and bring good luck in the coming new year. (Yonhap)
