SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- BTS' Japanese-language compilation album "BTS, The Best" topped Oricon's daily album rankings with 572,000 copies sold on the first day of its release.

The first day of sales of "BTS, the Best" exceeded the first week sales of their previous Japanese album "Map of the Soul: 7~The Journey~" released last July which sold 564,000 copies," according to the band's agency Big Hit Music on Thursday.

This album has already surpassed the highest sales record in the first week of this year's Oricon weekly album rankings with just one day of sales. Oricon's highest sales record for the first week of the year was previously held by a Japanese boy band SixTones with 467,000 copies.

Released on June 16, "BTS, The Best" is an album that covers all the songs on BTS' singles and albums released in Japan for four years since 2017.

It contains a total of 23 songs, including a ballad song "Film out" with mournful lyrics, "Dynamite," which was released last August, and the original Japanese-language songs "Your Eyes Tell" and "Crystal Snow."
