SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- The leader of
global super band BTS, RM released another solo song "Bicycle" on
YouTube and SoundCloud for free on Monday.
"I've always wanted to make songs about bicycles," RM wrote on BTS's
blog (Bangtan Blog). "It's been three years since I released 'Mono,' and I
thought it would be perfect to release 'Bicycle' ahead of 'Festa' (BTS's fan
event)."
"Mono." is a mix tape released by RM in October 2018, and ranked No. 26
on the Billboard 200 main album chart, the best ranking to achieve by a K-pop
solo artist.
Regarding RM releasing "Bicycle" after three years since "Mono.,"
RM said, "I completed this song after riding my bicycle here and there in February
and March. I added melodies and lyrics on singer-songwriter John Eun's guitar
performance. I can't remember how much I hummed the melody over and over again."
"When I put two feet on the pedals, I always feel a little sad. Maybe it's
because I miss a lot of things," RM added. "When I'm riding the
bicycle, it's a rare time for me to physically feel the most freedom."
"Bicycle" was written, composed and arranged by RM along with jazz
singer-songwriter John Eun.
Although RM is the main rapper of BTS, the artist also sings from time to time
in "Bicycle."
RM, known for his excellent songwriting and composition skills, he also showed
his abilitiy as a solo artist when he released his first mixed tape,
"RM," in 2015.
Recently, RM also participated in writing lyrics for BTS's new English song
"Butter," which topped the U.S. Billboard's main single chart,
