YEONGDONG, June 3 (Yonhap) -- Nogeunri
Peace Park, located in Yeongdong, North Chungcheong Province, a memorial space
for the pain of the Korean war, was beautifully colored with bright roses.
According to Yeongdong County, 4,000 flowers are blooming in the 13,000㎡
sized rose garden in the park, giving visitors a romantic yet
healing gift.
The garden is full of roses and irises, which provides a special attraction for
people enjoying the park. Additionally, spring flowers such as pansies, calendula,
and Livingstone daisies are also present within the garden in order to show off
their beautiful appearance before spring officially ends.
A military official said, "As the roses bloom, the whole park is filled
with the smell of flowers. It is good to spend the day by healing our tired
bodies and minds while thinking about the importance of human rights and
peace."
Nogunri Peace Park was established in 2011 to commemorate South Korean refugees
who were killed by a U.S. troop air attack, early in the Korean War.
