SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- BTS's second
English single "Butter" has reached No. 26 on Billboard's pop airplay
chart on the 25th (KST).
The Billboard pop airplay chart ranks the top 40 songs in the pop genre by measuring airplay of pop songs at 160 major U.S. radio stations every week.
Billboard usually ranks streaming and music
sales by compiling data between Friday and Thursday of the week after whenever pop
music is released. However, for radio charts, the data is calculated every
Monday to Sunday.
The English-language single "Butter"
entered the radio chart only three days after its release.
BTS's latest single ranked higher than the
boy band's first all English song "Dynamite," which entered the same
chart at No. 30 last year.
"Butter" reached No. 40 on Billboard's
adult pop airplay chart.
Earlier, Columbia Records, BTS's U.S.
label, went around the U.S. on buses before the release of "Butter," promoting
the new song to radio DJs.
Radio DJs posted a series of photos on
social media along with favorable reviews of BTS's "Butter."
"Butter" ranked second on Spotify's
latest "Global Top 200" chart after Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U."
Although "Butter" is receiving a
positive response on the radio and is expected to record high music sales based
on its strong fandom, "Good 4 U" is ahead in terms of streaming,
therefore it is expected to lead to a heated competition.
