SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- Trot singer Lim Young-woong donated 200 million won to the nonprofit organization Community Chest of Korea with his agency in celebration of the singer's birthday.

Lim Young-woong and his agency Mulgogi Music delivered 100 million won each on June 16, according to Community Chest of Korea on Thursday.

The donation was made under the name of Lim Young-woong's fan club, "Young-woong's Era."

Lim Young-woong said he decided to donate after hearing that many people were struggling financially due to the prolonged novel corona virus.

The donation was also meaningful as it was a way for the trot singer to thank his fandom for continuously making voluntary donations to the community earlier on.

"I am always grateful for the love I receive from many people," Lim said. "I will try not to forget this gratitude, and I would like to express my respect to the good work that Young-woong's Era is doing."

Last year, Lim donated 100 million won to the children welfare foundation "Dream Fruit" last year to support the damage caused by COVID-19 and a total of 890 million won to the nonprofit organization "The Hopeful People" with his fan club.
