N. Korean parliamentary leader meets Russian delegation: KCNA

SEOUL -- The chairman of North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly met with a visiting Russian delegation in Pyongyang earlier this week, North Korea's state media reported Friday, the latest in a series of deepening exchanges between the two countries following a summit of their leaders in September.

The meeting between Pak In-chol and the delegation led by Grigoriy Rapota, a member of the International Affairs Committee of Russia's Federation Council and chairman of the Russia-North Korea friendship parliamentary group, took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on Thursday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

SEOUL -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has praised construction workers of a newly built school for the country's ruling party officials, state media reported Thursday.

Kim had a photo session with members of Unit 267, who participated in the construction of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) on Wednesday, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

SEOUL -- The portraits of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un were hung side by side with those of his two late predecessors, according to photos released by state media on Wednesday, in the latest sign of boosting his idolization to near the level of his grandfather Kim Il-sung and father Kim Jong-il.

North Korea has been strengthening the personality cult of the current leader since Kim took office in 2011 following the sudden death of his father Kim Jong-il in communism's second hereditary succession of power.

N. Korean science, technology delegation returns home from visit to Russia

SEOUL -- A North Korean science and technology delegation has returned home after a weeklong visit to Russia, state media said Wednesday, as the two countries are deepening their bilateral ties following the summit of their leaders in September.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the delegation led by Ri Chung-gil, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, arrived back home on Tuesday after attending the eighth meeting of a government committee on trade and economy as well as science and technology cooperation between the two nations, in Moscow.

N.K leader again visits newly built ruling party training school

SEOUL -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the opening ceremony of a newly built school for the country's ruling party officials, state media reported on Wednesday, marking his second visit to the site in less than a week.

The ribbon-cutting event at the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in Pyongyang took place on Tuesday, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The visit follows another visit just six days earlier on May 15. He had also inspected its construction on March 30.

N. Korean leader voices condolences over death of Iranian president in helicopter crash

SEOUL -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has expressed his "deep" condolences over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a recent helicopter crash, state media reported Tuesday.

Kim sent a message of condolence Monday to Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's first vice president, upon receiving the "shocking" news of Raisi's sudden demise, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Mokhber has become Iran's interim president after Raisi's death.

N. Korea slams U.S. subcritical nuclear test, vows measures to bolster nuclear deterrence

SEOUL -- North Korea threatened Monday to take powerful deterrent action against what it claims is the U.S. nuclear threat, denouncing Washington for its recent subcritical nuclear test.

The U.S. carried out a subcritical nuclear test in Nevada last week, the third of its kind under President Joe Biden. The U.S. said it was designed to collect "essential data" about its nuclear warheads.

N. Korean leader mourns military official known for close ties with him on 2nd annv. of death

SEOUL -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has visited the cemetery of Hyon Chol-hae, known to have helped groom the current leader, on the occasion of the second year of his death, Pyongyang's state media reported Monday.

Kim laid a flower at the grave of Hyon in the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri, Pyongyang, on Sunday afternoon, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
