SEOUL, May 27 (Yonhap) -- On May 27th, a McDonald's store in downtown Seoul is crowded with people who waiting to taste the limited edition "BTS Meal" during lunchtime.
McDonald's Korea launched the set menu made
in collaboration with K-pop boy band BTS at 10:30 a.m. The "BTS Meal"
consists a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries and Coke as well as two
special dipping sauces--sweet chili and Cajun flavors.
The box containing the McNuggets and
beverage cups are designed with a purple color to symbolize BTS.
McDonald's decorated the interior of the
store with purple balloons to commemorate the launch of the set, and played
BTS's hit songs such as "Dynamite" and "Butter" as the
stores' background music.
Employees greeted guests in T-shirts with
both the McDonald's and BTS logos.
As soon as the "BTS Meal" was
released at 10:30 a.m., there were a lot of people looking for the set menu at
the store. From 11 a.m., a long line was formed in front of the kiosk ordering
machine.
A McDonald's official said, "In the
morning, dozens of Army(s) (BTS's global fandom) visited in groups and tasted
the set menu."
Jang Ha-hyung (22), from Eunpyeong-gu,
Seoul, said, "I came here early at 10 a.m. to taste the set menu because I
like member V from BTS."
At least 20 groups of people were observed eating
the "BTS Meal" and it was clear BTS's popularity wasn't limited to
people in Korea.
"I became a fan when BTS visited Russia,"
said Florida (35), who is an Army from Russia. "I visited the store around
11 a.m. after hearing about the release of the 'BTS Meal."
She added, "I was also looking online
at the merchandises that were released today, but all of them of out of
stock--except for the socks."
"The BTS Set" will be sold in all
McDonald's offline stores, drive-throughs and McDelivery until June 30th. The
set menu will also be released in 50 other countries around the world.
"We are working closely with our raw
material supply partners to meet the demand for the popular "BTS Meal,"
a McDonald's official said. "There will be no problem in the supply and
demand process of these products."
