'Makgeolli'-making designated as intangible cultural asset
This photo, provided by the Cultural Heritage Administration on June 15, 2021, shows the painting "Tavern" by Kim Hong-do, a legendary painter in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The administration said that it has designated the making of "makgeolli," a South Korean traditional grain-based alcoholic drink, as a national intangible cultural asset. Koreans are believed to have enjoyed drinking makgeolli since an era preceding the Three Kingdoms (57 B.C.-668 A.D.). (PHOTO NOT FOR SALE) (Yonhap)
