SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- Global K-pop group BTS's latest single "Butter," which has topped the U.S. Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100," is also making a hit in Japan, recording the most weekly streams in Oricon history.

"Butter" earned 31,130,352 streams based on data compiled between May 24-30, topping the latest weekly streaming rankings, according to Oricon on Wednesday.

The number of weekly streams achieved by "Butter" last week was the highest record set in Oricon history as it doubled the previous record (about 16.7 million streams) made by popular Japanese singer LiSA's "Homura" in 2010.

Previously, "Butter" gained 16.6 million streams in three days during its debut week and entered the top spot on the chart.

The song beat JYP Entertainment's Japanese girl group NiziU's "Take a Picture" (about 12.51 million), which gained popularity in Japan.

"Butter," which was released on May 21st, is an exciting and cheerful summer song.

It has entered the UK Official Singles Chart by ranking third place and has continued to be popular around the world, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this morning.
