SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group
TWICE unveiled its new song "Alcohol-Free", a day before its album
release, by performing on stage for the first time on a famous U.S. talk show.
TWICE appeared on NBC's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday (KST)
and performed the title track "Alcohol-Free" from its 10th mini-album
"Taste of Love."
TWICE, who appeared in colorful skirts, passionately danced as a group on a
stage decorated like a bar near the beach.
The combination between the dance choreography of "Alcohol-Free,"
which seemed to be inspired by traditional South American dances as well as the
sound of Bossa nova and hip-hop, gave off a bright atmosphere.
TWICE has been targeting audience in the U.S. by releasing English language songs
and appearing on programs after signing a partnership contract with Republic
Records, a label owned by Universal Music Group, last February.
As a result, TWICE succeeded in entering the Billboard 200, the U.S. Billboard
main album chart, with its ninth mini-album "More and More," and ranked
No. 72 with its second full-length album "Eyes Wide Open."
Although "Taste of Love" will officially be released at 1 p.m. on the
11th (KST), TWICE pre-released both the song and music video for
"Alcohol-Free" ahead of time.
After its release, the song immediately
gained popularity by topping local music sites such as Genie Music and Bugs as
well as charts from Line Music in Japan.
Meanwhile, TWICE will join Spotify, the world's largest music platform, to
showcase "Taste of Love" as an 'enhanced' album..
The enhanced album is a multi-content album created by Spotify that contains
not only the title track but also various contents containing information about
other songs listed on the album.
"Taste of Love," which will be released on the 11th, includes six new
songs, an introduction video of the song, behind-the-scenes video, and a commentary
about each track.
TWICE is the third Korean artist to release an enhanced album on Spotify after super
groups BTS and BLACKPINK.
Spotify will also promote the album in various ways such as advertisements on
Times Square in New York and online promotions on the day of TWICE's "Taste
of Love" release.
