Nationwide civil defense drill
A road around City Hall is closed to traffic in Seoul on Aug. 20, 2025, after an air-raid civil siren went off across the country with vehicles on designated roads to be ordered to pull over and people to evacuate to shelters or underground facilities as South Korea holds an air raid exercise. The 20-minute exercise is a part of the four-day Ulchi civil defense drill that began on Aug. 18, in conjunction with a joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States, the Ulchi Freedom Shield.
