
High court upholds 5-yr prison term for opposition leader's aide
Kim Yong, a former deputy head of the main opposition Democratic Party's think tank and a close aide to the party's leader, Lee Jae-myung, appears at the Seoul High Court in the capital on Feb. 6, 2025, to hear the ruling over a bribery scandal linked to a development project launched when Lee was the mayor of Seongnam, south of Seoul. The court upheld a five-year prison term for him on bribery and illegal political fund charges connected to the scandal and was immediately taken into custody in the courtroom. (Yonhap)
