Impeached chief auditor files for injunction against suspension of duties
SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Yonhap) -- The impeached chief of the state audit agency on Tuesday filed for an injunction against his suspension from duties to the Constitutional Court, following his parliamentary impeachment earlier this month.
On Dec. 5, the opposition-controlled National Assembly passed an impeachment motion against the Board of Audit and Inspection Chair Choe Jae-hae, suspending his duties and leaving the decision over his fate to the Constitutional Court.
If the court grants the injunction, Choe is expected to be able to carry out his duties until the court makes its decision on whether reinstate him or uphold the impeachment to remove him from office.
Choe is accused by the opposition of conducting a poor review of alleged irregularities surrounding the 2022 relocation of the presidential office, which took place in line with a campaign pledge of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
