FM Cho, LG Energy official discuss release of detained S. Koreans in U.S.
SEOUL, Sept. 7 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held talks with an LG Energy Solution Ltd. official Sunday to discuss the release of South Koreans detained in the United States following an immigration raid in Georgia, the ministry said.
Cho explained in detail the ministry's consular efforts and vowed to push for an early release of the South Korean nationals and the establishment of stable investment circumstances in the U.S., it added.
Earlier in the day, presidential chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik said negotiations for the release of the South Korean workers detained in the recent U.S. immigration raid have concluded.
More than 300 South Korean nationals out of 457 people have been taken into custody during the raid on the site operated by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution, including 46 South Koreans affiliated with LG Energy Solution.
