Trump-Japan-trade deal
Trump inks executive order implementing trade deal with Japan: report
By Song Sang-ho
WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday to implement a trade deal with Japan, a report said Friday.
Under the deal, the United States will apply a baseline 15 percent tariff on nearly all Japanese products imported into the U.S., alongside separate sector-specific treatment for automobiles, aerospace products and generic pharmaceuticals, Reuters reported, citing the executive order.
In July, the White House announced the deal under which the Trump administration agreed to lower reciprocal tariffs on Japan to 15 percent from the proposed 25 percent in return for Japan's agreement to invest US$550 billion in the U.S. and other commitments.
