Police apprehend 3 suspects over alleged attempted kidnapping of children

SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- Police said Thursday they have apprehended three people suspected of attempting to kidnap elementary school children in western Seoul over the weekend, and filed for warrants to formally detain two of them.

The Seoul Seodaemun Police Station said the suspects were taken into custody as officers investigated two reports that two men in a white-colored vehicle had tried to lure children into their car by offering them a ride home.

On Monday, an elementary school in the Seodaemun district distributed a notice to parents informing them of the incident.

Police said they launched a probe after receiving a similar report on Tuesday, and confirmed that two attempted child abduction cases had occurred in the district.
