Unification minister, Britain's top envoy discuss Korean Peninsula issues
SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Yonhap) -- Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Friday met with British Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks, and discussed Korean Peninsula issues and cooperation on North Korea policy, according to the unification ministry.
In the meeting, Chung explained the Lee Jae Myung administration's efforts to restore frayed ties between the two Koreas and promote peace on the peninsula, according to the ministry.
The minister also appreciated Britain's efforts to maintain a diplomatic channel with North Korea, and requested its support for Seoul's move to ease tensions and bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.
Britain established diplomatic relations with the North in 2000 and opened its embassy in Pyongyang the following year.
