Buddhist ordination
Buddhist monks and nuns hold up surplices, oblong pieces of ornamental cloth to be worn over their robes, during an ordination ceremony at Jogye Temple in Seoul on April 22, 2021, to receive the monastic ranks of "jongdeok" for monks and "jeongdeok" for nuns. The ranks qualify them to serve as chiefs of temples across the country. (Yonhap)
