SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) -- JB (real name Lim Jae-beom), the leader of boy group GOT7, will join the label H1hr Music led by former 2PM's member and music planner Jay Park (Korean name Park Jae-beom) under the name of "JAYB," the company said on the 11th.
Jay Park, founder and CEO of H1ghr Music, met with JB in person, and the two continued to discuss joining the label, H1ghr Music added.
JB plans to establish himself as a solo artist by presenting R&B-based music using his attractive tones. At 6 p.m. on the 14th, he will release his first single at H1ghr Music.
"I felt grateful that CEO Park visited and trusted me first," he said. "I had a goal to become an artist who could show more diverse sides in the future by utilizing my previous musical career as an idol."
GOT7 failed to renew its contract with its original agency JYP Entertainment earlier this year, and all its members were scattered to different agencies. Among them, Yugyeom also joined another label AOMG led by Jay Park in February.
