What is it about ex-South Korean presidents and prison? Four have been jailed, including Lee Myung-bak, who was put back behind bars this week. The first two, Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo, were both jailed and pardoned within the 1990s. Then came Park Geun-hye, who was expelled from office in 2017 and subsequently incarcerated over a power abuse scandal that still reverberates today. Is this all a coincidence or is there a deeper problem that needs to be resolved?
