JEJU, July 2 (Yonhap) -- The 22nd Samyang Black Sand Festival will take place July 3-4 at Samyang Black Sand Beach, known for its emerald waters and distinctive black sand, organizers said Thursday.
The festival is hosted by the Samyang Black Sand Festival Committee and organized by the Samyang-dong United Youth Association.
Festivities will begin Friday morning, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 8 p.m. on a special stage set up on the beach. A fireworks display will follow the ceremony.
Throughout the two-day event, visitors can enjoy a variety of wellness programs highlighting the beach's unique natural features, including black sand baths, barefoot walking, spring water experiences and marine leisure activities. A flea market and food stalls will also be available.
A singing contest open to the public will be held Saturday, along with various performances, including concerts by invited singers.
The festival will be operated as an environmentally friendly event using reusable tableware, and visitors are encouraged to use public transportation, walk or ride bicycles to the venue.
