SEOUL, Oct. 19 (Yonhap) -- Fall music festival "Grand Mint Festival" (GMF) has canceled some outdoor performances scheduled for its second day and decided to fully refund tickets due to heavy rain and other adverse weather conditions.
Organizer Mint Paper announced via its official social media channels Sunday that it had determined it was "close to impossible in practical terms to fully carry out the planned performances as the bad weather continues," adding that "tickets for Day 2 will be fully refunded."
In a follow-up announcement, Mint Paper said, "It is difficult to proceed normally with performances at the 88 Lawn Stage, an outdoor stage, due to damage to some production equipment, so all remaining performances scheduled for today will be canceled." It added that it was checking weather conditions at the 88 Lakeside Stage and would make a separate announcement once a decision was made on whether performances could resume.
Indoor performances at KSPO Dome, however, will proceed as scheduled. Mint Paper added, "As many audience members are currently entering the venue, admission may be restricted depending on the circumstances."
Grand Mint Festival was scheduled to take place over two days from Oct. 17 through Sunday in and around Olympic Park in Songpa Ward, southeastern Seoul. On the second day, Sunwoojunga, Lee Seok-won and Shin Ji-hoon were scheduled to perform at the 88 Lakeside Stage; Younha, CNBLUE, Roy Kim and Jung Seung-hwan at the 88 Lawn Stage; and 10cm x Soran, Thornapple and N.Flying at KSPO Dome.

The organizers had prepared for the heavy rain forecast by providing raincoats to festivalgoers and setting up tents where they could take shelter from the rain. But the continuing downpour eventually disrupted the event.
Some performers had already been notified that their performances were canceled. An official at the agency of a singer scheduled to perform that day said, "We were informed by the organizers that it would be impossible to proceed with the performance," adding that they had been told that numerous other events in different regions had also been canceled.
Another official said, "At outdoor stages, water getting into the stage or performance equipment could create safety issues," adding, "From the organizers' perspective, a full refund would result in losses, but it appears they made the difficult decision after much consideration."
