SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Yonhap) -- Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul said Wednesday it will hold the "2026 Dongdaemun-gu Water Sports Festa" from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 around Imun Waterfront Park, beneath Ihwa Bridge.

The festival was organized as an event for residents to enjoy together as the district wraps up this year's water sports program, in appreciation for their support for the Dongdaemun-gu Water Sports Experience and Education Center throughout the year.

The "2026 Dongdaemun-gu Water Sports Competition" will be held for participants who have registered in advance to compete in kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).

A flyboard performance will also be presented, featuring performers propelled into the air above the surface of the Jungnangcheon Stream by jets of water. Magic and bubble shows, a taekwondo demonstration and performances by invited singers are also scheduled.

The event venue will feature soccer and basketball experience areas, an "Life Four Cuts" photo booth, a face-painting zone and food trucks.

The water sports education center was established at Imun Waterfront Park last year and offered residents opportunities to experience water sports such as kayaking and SUP for six months from May through October this year.

Dongdaemun District Mayor Choi Dong-min said, "I hope this water sports festa will provide an energetic time for all residents to come together and enjoy the atmosphere of deepening autumn."
