SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- APR said Wednesday that its sales in Europe reached 228.9 billion won in the first half of this year, up 363 percent from a year earlier.

The figure accounted for 17 percent of APR's total sales in the first half.

APR opened official stores on Amazon in major European markets, including Britain, France and Germany, late last year. As of June, its sales in each country had increased by an average of more than eightfold from January.

June sales reached a record monthly high, driven by the impact of Prime Day, Amazon's biggest discount event.

The company also posted strong growth in offline sales.

After first entering the European offline market early last year, APR expanded its distribution network by entering Sephora, a major beauty retailer, in March this year. As a result, its cumulative offline sales in Europe in the first half grew more than ninefold from a year earlier.

APR will accordingly raise its annual sales target for Europe to 500 billion won.

An APR official said the company "will strengthen its competitiveness in the European market through a strategy combining diverse product lines and sales channels."
