SEOUL, July 26 (Yonhap) -- The National Museum of Korea and the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art will be holding an online academic conference on "Ancient Korean Architecture" on July 26.
This event is in conjunction with the special exhibition "Once Upon a Roof," which was planned by the two museums and held in Washington, USA, with the participation of researchers from Korea and the United States.
Researchers will be examining the early wooden architectural style and characteristics of Korea, focusing on "chimi," a huge decorative roof tile used in old buildings, and discuss the historical significance of Buddhist temples in Baekje.
The conference is held simultaneously in Korea and the United States, and one will be able to participate after registering online.
