SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- A lawsuit filed by three little-known songwriters in a U.S. court alleging that "SWIM," the title track of BTS' fifth full-length album, plagiarized their song has ended after the plaintiffs withdrew their claims.

Billboard, a U.S. music magazine, reported Wednesday (U.S. time) that the plaintiffs' attorneys had requested the full dismissal of the lawsuit in a court filing submitted the same day.

Songwriters Steve Cooper, John Sandler and Graylin Johnson filed the lawsuit in July, alleging similarities between "SWIM" and their own demo track of the same name.

The plaintiffs sued HYBE, HYBE America and Big Hit Music, as well as Ryan Tedder, a member of OneRepublic, and other songwriters involved in the creation of "SWIM."

BTS leader RM was among the songwriters of "SWIM," but the plaintiffs did not name BTS or any of its members as defendants.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs claimed that they had sent their demo track to executives at Artist Publishing Group and several other industry figures starting in March last year, and that some of those figures had subsequently shared the demo with certain songwriters of "SWIM."

Big Hit Music, BTS' agency, rejected the allegations in July, saying, "The lawsuit is based solely on the plaintiffs' unilateral claims. We make clear that 'SWIM' is an independently created work." The agency added that it would take a firm stance in the legal proceedings.

According to Billboard, the lawsuit was still in its early stages, and HYBE's lawyers had not even filed a formal response.

"Whether a settlement was reached could not be determined from the court documents alone," Billboard reported, adding that neither side had responded to requests for comment.

Released in March this year, "SWIM" enjoyed global popularity, topping Billboard's main singles chart, the Hot 100.
