SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- K-pop supergroup BTS has become the first group in the world to surpass 10 billion annual streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, BigHit Music said Friday.
BTS has surpassed 10 billion cumulative streams on Spotify this year. Global solo artists, including pop stars Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Bad Bunny, had previously surpassed the milestone.
The group's cumulative streams this year increased 122 percent from 4.5 billion last year. In particular, its fifth full-length album, "ARIRANG," released in March, has been streamed more than 5 billion times, driving the group to the record. "ARIRANG" is the most-streamed album released this year on Spotify.
BTS won Artist of the Year at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards Japan on Tuesday. The winners were announced in advance, while the main ceremony is scheduled to take place at Tokyo Dome in Japan on Oct. 29.
